Pork

Our piglets are sourced from 3 local farms - who each raise different breeds of outdoor pigs. 

Reared at Farmer Gow's from 4 weeks the piglets enjoy a great life - indoors for the next couple of months, then outdoors on the farm.  Pigs do not take heat well, so the outdoor pens each have their own 'swimming pools' for the porkers to have a good wallow. They cover their skins with mud in the summer, which acts as a sun screen.

 

 

Availability

Pork products are available all year round from the farm shop (frozen)

  • sausages - 9 varieties
  • burgers
  • leg joints - pork & gammon
  • bacon - back & streaky

Ordering a fresh ½ pig - approximately 30-35 kg, butchered to order

2012 availability

  • January
  • late April/early May
  • October
  • December - gammon for Christmas
Leg cut into 2,3 or 4 pieces - choose what size suits your family best
Chops approximately 15 chops - bagged in 2s, 3s or 4s
Diced in 1/2 kg packs
Sausages 50 large sausages - choose your flavouring from old traditional, leek, herbs, sweet chilli, carmelised onion, garlic & rosemary, breakfast,
Burgers 30 pork & apple burgers
Offal heart, kidney & liver - please let us know if you don't want offal 

 

Gammon ~ reared for Christmas, is also very delicious.
