'Hands On' Summer Fun

8 August 2012 ~ email received from Viv Bennion

We visited Farmer Gow's last week with two grandchildren aged five and three.  We've visited a number of "child friendly farms" over the years with various grandchildren but your was by far the best in the "up close and personal" experiences the children enjoyed.  We were impressed too with the hay bale tunnels, the number of toys available both indoor and out, the fact that you provided indoor facilities for people to eat their own picnics, and the extra touches such as wellies in all sizes available to borrow, and undies on sale in case of "accidents".  We'll definitely return to Farmer Gow's.

As a small farm Farmer Gow’s gives a personal welcome to all guests.

It is not a theme park - so we just keep animals that belong on a farm.

We offer traditional fun and a really interesting day out.

If you arrive either before 11am or before 2pm you can make the most of meeting the animals. Friendly staff introduce you to them and show you how to feed them, it’s a real family experience and bottle feeding a baby animal is a memory to treasure.

Daily Events ~

10 am
Farm park opens
Harvest Tea Room open all day for light snacks and refreshments
11 am 'Meet the Animals' ~ interactive 'hands on' feeding and handling of farm animals
12 noon Trailer rides commence ~ 30-minute rides around the farm including the feeding of larger farm animals
1 pm 'Go for Gold' in our Summer Treasure Hunts on the giant Bale Climb.  A choice of treat for every child.
2 pm 'Meet the Animals' ~ sweet goat kids, piglets, lambs and fluffy chicks
3 pm Trailer Rides - to meet the bigger farm animals - Dexter cattle, Pollyanna Pig and the ewes with lambs
3.30 pm Summer Treasure Hunt
4.30 pm Last bottle feed - of our youngest animals
5 pm Farm park closes

You can take a goat for a walk, make friends with a Dexter calf and bottle feed a little goat kid or lamb.

Farmer Gow’s offers lots of 'hands-on' experiences with the farm animals.

You can tickle a piglet, feel a lamb’s woolly coat and hold a chick in your hand to see how soft they really are.

You can collect your own eggs and box them, even help out for the day if you want to book a ‘Be a Farmer for a Day’ or ‘Be a Shepherd for a Day’.

‘Go for Gold’ in one of our Summer Treasure Hunts or jump aboard a trailer ride around the farm to meet the bigger animals. There’s lots of fun things to do this Summer at Farmer Gow’s

There’s a pedal tractor yard and playground outside, an undercover play and picnic area and an undercover Bale Climb, so it’s a day out the weather can’t spoil.

The Harvest Tea Room offers hot and cold farm fare using tasty farm reared meats and our free range eggs.

Farmer Gow’s is near the Uffington White Horse Hill, 5 minutes from Faringdon and 10 minutes from Swindon.  www.farmergows.co.uk

Full price - Adults £7, Child: £6, open every day 10am – 5pm.
