Farmer Gow's welcomes The Woodland Trust on

  Thursday 9 April
  Friday 10 April

  Time 10.30 am ~ 3.30 pm
  Location

Farmer Gow's, Fernham Road, Longcot, nr Faringdon, Oxfordshire, SN7 7PR

The Woodland Trust's vision is a UK rich in woods and trees, enjoyed and valued by everyone.

'We aim to create new native woodland with the help of communities, schools, organisations and individuals. We try to protect our precious ancient woods, restore the ones that are damaged and fight for those under threat. We do this by inspiring people up and down the country to visit woods, plant trees, and enjoy the many benefits that woodland has to offer.'

Did you know ~
Oxfordshire's hedgerow Elm tree population was decimated in the early 1970s by Dutch Elm disease.  The county had the highest loss of elm trees in the whole of the UK.  Our landscape was altered totally becoming much more open and exposed, thereby much more vulnerable to winds.

Farmer Gow's planted a new 2,000 tree mixed broadleaved woodland in 2008-9, including areas of woodland coppice (ash and hazel), woodland shurby species and woodland meadow.

Our hardwood firewood, sources hardwood thinnings from local woodlands, including Wytham Wood, Oxford.
