Sunscreen days - we’ve got you covered
We may all feel a little scorched this summer; the pastures are certainly golden brown rather than green. Having said that, the good news for visitors (and animals) is that we’ve plenty of cool shade in our large, refurbished, modern barns. And there’s a 12% off Day Tickets so you can make more unforgettable summer memories with our hands-on farm experience - for less!
The team is by now, used to lugging large cans around the farm to protect recently planted saplings, planters and summer pollinators. Leeann, Director of Gardens, has had the foresight to plant drought-resistant, nectar-rich species such as lavender and sea holly so you will spot some gorgeous, fat bumble bees, busy as ever.
Earlier this month, there were fresh haircuts for the flock! There is nothing quite like shearing day, and we are so grateful to have Stuart by our side, year after year. Watching him work, it is easy to see why we call him our "super sheep shearer" - the ewes and lambs always look so relieved to lose their heavy wool coats! Stuart’s journey started more than 30 years ago during his shepherding days. He was trained by the talented Ron Webb and has since mastered handling a massive variety of breeds, including specialized pedigrees.
This year we’ve focused on designing the ultimate all-weather escape for your family day out. Our sleek, refurbished barns offer a cool, modern space to play and make farm friends at our Meet the Animals encounters which includes bottle feeding goats and handling chicks. We are expecting some piglets very soon now The other showstopper? Our new, custom-built wooden play arena is undercover! Your mini-adventurers can safely tackle the climbing towers, slide down the fireman’s pole, test their skills on the tree climbing wall, and learn with interactive animal boards. Top it all off with our legendary bale climb and indoor tunnels, and you’ve got a guaranteed day of shaded, weatherproof joy.
Last but not least, we are thrilled to have had some fantastic 5 star Google reviews this summer including this one from Anthony: “An absolutely unforgettable experience. Incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff (especially Dale who is a credit to his profession). Fantastic food and amenities; absolutely perfect for a family day out. The highlight of the experience has to be the feeding of the animals where you get up close and personal and meet the animals and learn all about the farm. The best farm in Oxfordshire, no question!” Thank you Anthony
